Stefan is talking about testing release (rather than debug) builds of
the release branch, and Gennadiy is talking about testing the release
branch (regardless of debug/release build)

That's what I'm proposing, too:-)
And, yes, in theory it shouldn't be necessary to explicitly test the
release branch. In practice, stuff happens, so we will still need to
test it.
The debug vs. release test issue is probably worth looking at again once
we get going.
