I think you're looking at the wrong proto_fwd.hpp. Ignore stuff in the 
proto/v1_ directory. That's old code, for anyone who was using proto 
before its rewrite. It's not supported. You should be using the 
proto_fwd.hpp from boost/xpressive/proto/.
