It seems that your goal should be to capture concepts and write components that can be composed, according to those concepts, to produce useful products. If Botan's license permits you to reuse existing functionality, repackaged in this new way, then the implementation will be relatively easy. Whether there's any point in maintaining a relationship with Botan after that point is a separate issue. It is certainly clear, however, that the library should not be named "Boost.Botan."
