Not sure what you mean by  "Git-1.**.exe"  download?

I debugged those instructions on a freshly installed virtual machine,
so was confident they aren't missing anything.

But I need to change them to eliminate the mention of a Cygwin
install. I didn't actually do that and it isn't required.
