One of the things you'll note, when you do so, is that maintainers are often pressed for time, so bugs can languish.  You can help by verifying reported bugs and submitting patches, including documentation patches.  (Refer to http://www.boost.org/support/bugs.html for more.)  You might also want to host a tester (see http://www.boost.org/development/running_regression_tests.html for more).
