FWIW, with thunderbid you have it store all email/newsgroup post/contacts, 
etc... in any folder you like, which can be for instance in a pen drive.

Then you just need to configure all your thunderbird's to use the profile folder 
on the pendrive.

I don't recall the exact command-line syntax so you better look it up, but it's 
something like:

thunderbird /profile:\pen-drive-mount\user\whatever_profile_folder
