Reject to do it, if you like, or provide only some of these. ---- Task 1 -------------- Consider I need to flatten a tree into a sum: template<int I> struct arg {}; proto::terminal<arg<1> >::type a; proto::terminal<arg<2> >::type b; proto::terminal<arg<3> >::type c; proto::terminal<arg<4> >::type d; a + b + c + d has type expr<tag::plus, arg2<a tree structure> > but I need a template function make_flat taking arbitray expressions and return expressions of type expr<sum, args4<all args in the typelist> > How can I do this in proto? ----------- Task 2: Next step: a - b + c should first be transformed into a + (-b) + c and then transformed into the sum. Could you please provide full compilable examples? ------ Task 3: Next step: I want to detect simultaneous occurences of x and -x and have them dropped from the typelist of my sum. [1.35.0] Test regressions

For a full list of 1.35.0 test regressions, see http://beta.boost.org/development/tests/release/developer/summary.html There are a few 1.35.0 regressions I'm not particularly concerned about; VC++ 7.1 is now old news, and no one seems to care much about the Intel/Windows compiler. Given that VC++ 9.0 has been out for awhile now, it would be nice to kill off a few more of those regressions before 1.35.0 ships: * Conversion * Graph * Python * TR1 Red regressions I'm concerned about are: * Numeric/interval on Darwin. * Serialization on Darwin. * Spirit on Darwin. If anyone can quickly come up with fixes, there is still (barely) enough time to get them into 1.35.0. --Beman

As far as I understand it is possible to use in boost::any techniques similar to boost::function. I.e. split virtual behavior and actual data. It will help to avoid heap allocation while copying boost::any with stored small objects. What do you think about adding it to next releases of boost?

[smart_ptr] enable_shared_from_this enhancement

I'm curious a patch to boost::enable_shared_from_this that makes shared_from_this() work inside constructors would be considered? The implementation I've got in mind (haven't actually tried it yet) would work as follows. I'd add two shared_ptrs to enable_shared_from_this, call them "internal_shared" and "external_shared". external_shared would be assigned the external shared_ptr which first takes ownership of *this. internal_shared would be initialized with the "this" pointer, and a custom deleter which would reset external_shared. internal_shared would be reset right after external_shared is initialized (when an external shared_ptr takes ownership of *this). Any calls to shared_from_this() that occur prior to an external shared_ptr taking ownership of *this (such as in the constructor) would get a copy of internal_shared. So the idea is, external_shared would keep the object alive as long as any copies of internal_shared that got made in the constructor are still around. -- Frank

I'm happy to announce the release of Synopsis 0.10. About Synopsis ============== Synopsis is a multi-language source code introspection tool that provides a variety of representations for the parsed code to enable further processing such as documentation extraction, reverse engineering, and source-to-source translation. Changes ======= A lot of work has gone into this project over the last couple of months, yielding (among others) these features: * More information is captured, for example relationships between primary class templates and their specializations / instantiations. * The storage of source-code cross-references has been simplified and integrated into the Internal Representation (IR), leading to a much more intuitive and convenient user interface. * The Python parser has been largely rewritten, adding support for parsing of dependent (imported) files / modules. * The DocBook formatter has been rewritten. It now supports Javadoc and ReST document markup, too. * The HTML formatter has been enhanced in many respects. Many bugs have been fixed. * The C and C++ parsers have been enhanced, and many bugs have been fixed. * Some new ASG processors have been added (MacroFilter, TypedefFolder, et al.) * Documentation has been much enhanced. [gsoc2008] Calendar library

Just wanted to test the waters here. One thing that I've been wanting to do is a calendar library. In my experience, I have found what is available at the moment to be very limited. Either they only have support for Gregorian calendar, plus one or two more if lucky, and or there's serious bugs in its implementation like not taking into account skipped days when converting from Julian to Gregorian. What I would propose could either be an extension to the current Boost.Date_Time library, or a new library using its own design. Main features would be built in support of up to 20 calendar systems, conversion, calculation of secular and religious holidays, days between dates, day of week, and time zones support. I've fixed dozens of the most obvious broken links in Boost.Test documentation, both trunk and release branch. There are still 20 or so broken links left. I find it pretty irritating when the release manager and other volunteers have to fix a library's broken links. This is something that maintainers should check periodically, and fix themselves. The Boost "inspect" tool can be run in any directory to find broken links and other problems in that directory and its sub-directories. That makes it easy to check potential fixes without waiting for the full inspection report to cycle. --Beman
