Very odd OS X Leopard crash

Hello list I got some code that have been working fine on Win/Linux/OS X Tiger for a while now. When I got my new OS X box I got Leopard, and when trying to build our project it built fine, but it failed to start at all when i made release mode compiles, but debug mode worked just fine. It seemed it didnt even get into my main().. After a number of hours I've narrowed it down to posix_time.hpp and strip.. While regenerating some docs, I noticed that links to the "more" docs in quickbook-generated headers are broken in the release branch. Should we not have a stub redirection file under /more/ to handle this? John.

[asio] Performance of 1 io_service per core vs. 1 io service run by thread pool

Hi everyone, Has there been a formal comparison between the performance of an application having one io_service per core compared to a single io service run by a thread pool? Currently I'm implementing a server that will be run on a machine with multiple processors. My main concerns are that in the case of a single io service run by a thread pool, handler functions are wrapped in a strand therefore causing (unnecessary) synchronization between the running threads. In the case of an io service per core design, unbalanced work from connections being serviced by one io service instance over the others will cause that one thread (presumed to be running on just one processor) to do most of the work leaving the other threads idle. I'm mainly interested in a pro-cons discussion on what the best approach should be. Currently, my implementation uses a single io service with a thread pool running handlers synchronized with a strand -- though the performance is OK, I'm looking at whether trying the other approach would be worth it. Hi, as it seems I've found a bug in the depth_first_search algorithm. I want to use it with my own ColorMap and a start vertex. boost::bgl_named_params<dfs_time_visitor<main::size_type*>, boost::graph_visitor_t, boost::no_property>' has no member named 'finish_vertex' So, there seem to be a bug in the algorithm. When calling it as defined in the exampl file from the Boost side without a ColorMap and a vertex, it works fine. Could you verify this and tell me if you can reproduce it? Thank you. The idea is to create a single -dev package that contains the following in /usr/lib: libboost_python-py24-gcc42-1_34_1.so libboost_python-py24-gcc42-1_34_1.a libboost_python-py25-gcc42-1_34_1.so libboost_python-py25-gcc42-1_34_1.a The -dev package contains an rtupdate script to create the following symlinks (also in /usr/lib): libboost_python-gcc42-1_34_1.so libboost_python-gcc42-1_34_1.a Does that sound right? This has the advantage that a Python extension can be build and packaged for either or both supported Python versions, albeit at the cost of changing the link line. Code that just needs the default version can use the undecorated form in the link line. [type_traits] check for default constructor?

Hello Boosters, how can I detect the presence of a default constructor in a certain class? Using the VC8 compiler, I tried several things but with limited success: has_trivial_constructor<T> only recognizes automatically created constructors, but not explicitely declared ones. has_nothrow_constructor<T> is too restrictive as it requires a throw() declaration. is_convertible<void, T> did not work either. Any ideas or pointers? Am I missing something?
