Hi, I am new to Boost libraries, and each so often I look for some functionality that might be implemented in a Boost library --logging, exception, ...-- some of the libraries that I want are still in work (logging) or pending approval (exception), but it does not seem easy to detect this from the docs. I believe that requiring all proposals' documentation to have a reference to its current review state would be interesting while not time demanding for the developers. What I am proposing is that in any and all not-yet-approved library that is proposed to boost the docs (ideally close to the title) document the status, for example in http://www.revergestudios.com/boost-exception/boost-exception.htm title could read: Boost Exception [pending approval] or something alike. Compiler compliance tests

Has there been any attempts to provide some compiler compliance test suites from the boost community? I'm thinking of a minimal test suite without any compiler workarounds which tests a compilers C++ compliance. If the compiler compiles and run the suit cleanly they could get a C++/boost compliance award/certification/whatever. This could help and encourage compiler vendors to become compliant. It might not be boost's primary objective but in the end, it might help reduce the number of compiler specific defects we have to deal with. It might also be useful to library developers; "If compiler X doesn't even meet compliance suit #3 we won't bother supporting it". (new) Boost.Plugin library

Hi, I have written a plugin registration library from scratch during the past few weeks. There seems to be a Boost.Plugin library (that I was not aware of) out there, but it isn't part of the distribution, so it seems fair to reuse the name. My implementation is far more generic than the old one, and not really aimed for dynamic libraries (that's just something that comes for free). A draft (for comments) is here: http://zi.fi/plugin/

[Test] Patch to fix problems with VC8-Windows CE

Attached is a small patch for execution_monitor.ipp to fix Windows CE-related problems in the new test library code. The changes are mostly just a few #ifdef blocks to account for the following: - The Windows CE CRT does not support _set_se_translator or _set_invalid_parameter_handler. - The Windows CE CRT supplies _vsnprintf instead of vsnprintf. - The Windows CE CRT does not support errno. [crypto] stream(buf) ctor to message_digest

To calculate md5's of large files, I added a ctor to message_digest: template <typename charT, class traits> explicit message_digest(const std::basic_ios<charT, traits> & s) { std::basic_streambuf<charT, traits> * sb = s.rdbuf(); std::streamsize sz = 0; charT buf[block_size]; while( (sz = sb->sgetn(buf, block_size)) != 0 ) { input(buf, sz); } } Its just as easy to do this outside the message_digest class using input(void*,size_t) but it seems that calculating md5 checksums for large files might be common enough to warrant it. This may not be the best impl. I use basic_ios because its the first class in the ios_base hierarchy that provides rdbuf(). Thoughts? Chris

Hi Math Toolkit developers. (Sending to this list as library is still in development?) If I try and run the tests on SunCC using the following command: /opt/SunStudio12/SUNWspro/bin/CC -o \ build/debug/vendor/boost/libs/math/test/log1p_expm1_test \ -library=stlport4,Crun \ build/debug/vendor/boost/libs/math/test/log1p_expm1_test.o \ -Lbuild/debug/vendor/boost -Lvendor/boost -lboost_regex I get this linker error: Undefined first referenced symbol in file int boost::math::tools::digits<boost::math::concepts::real_concept>() build/debug/vendor/boost/libs/math/test/log1p_expm1_test.o ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to build/debug/vendor/boost/libs/math/test/log1p_expm1_test Has anyone seen this before? What can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance, Sohail

Hi Given the instructions at <http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/wiki/ImprovingPractices#Mergingchangesfromd…> I'm supposed to wait for an announcement to merge my trunk changes to the release branch. 1. How will this announcement be made? Would it be possible to get an email? 2. Is there an estimate when the announcement will be made? 3. How am I supposed to merge status/explicit-failures-markup.xml? Will I not somehow screw up the merge history of that file when I just merge the changes relevant for my library and ignore all the other pending changes?
