Hello, boost::hs is a syntax highlighting for C++, doxygen, Boost.Build jamfiles and QuickBook. It is designed to work with Katepart, so it can be used in KWrite, Kate, Konqueror and KDevelop. Hi, I think there's a minor mistake in the template code for interprocess_condition::wait. ***** Begin example ***** using namespace boost::interprocess; #ifdef USE_RECURSIVE typedef interprocess_recursive_mutex MutexT; #else typedef interprocess_mutex MutexT; #endif MutexT mutex; scoped_lock<MutexT> lock(mutex); interprocess_condition condition; condition.wait(lock); // compilation error when USE_RECURSIVE is defined ***** End example ***** Here, wait() is templated on the lock type; but this calls do_wait(), which requires interprocess_mutex. Is there a reason why do_wait() cannot accept a recursive mutex? The attached diff contains one possible solution: - Template do_wait() on the mutex type. - Add "friend class interprocess_condition" to the recursive mutex (as it is in the nonrecursive mutex). This seems to work on my computer (with POSIX_SHARED_MEMORY_OBJECTS); it has't been tested with the POSIX emulation. Thanks, Daniel

1 It seems nice to be able to create a one-stop visualisation of a container, for example: std::vector<double> my_data_structure; // fill with my data... my-graph << my_data_structure; // But should the myriad of graph plotting *options* be set using operator << allowing them to be chained together thus my_graph << line_color(black) << point_color(blue) << x_range(-10, 10) << y_range(0, 5)...; as suggested by John Maddock (who has a most irritating habit of being right ;-) or more conventional setter member functions my_graph.line_color(black); my_graph.point_color(blue); my_graph.x_range(-10, 10); my_graph.y_range(0, 5); and could getter versions return their current values if (my_graph.line_color() == black) .... possibly chained (return this) to reduce typing? http://www.parashift.com/c++-faq-lite/references.html#faq-8.4 my_graph.line_color(black).point_color(blue).x_range(-10, 10).y_range(0, 5); 2 How can a set of plot settings be 'saved' for repeated use? Once one has chosen a plot style, line_color black, point_color blue ..., one wants to save this for re-use (though things like the range may change). 3 Does anyone have experience with auto-axis scaling algorithms. The best reference I have found is Michael Bramley, C/C++ Users journal, www.cuj.com July 2000, pp 20 - 26 But this does not always give the nicest scales - it would work nicely using decimal, but the damned binary FP *wrong* bits at the end screw up the comparisons. This simple class could, with a lot of work, be extended into a library which could support the standard collections and other user defined value types as long as all non-const methods are wrapped to detect state changes. I.e. we would need to implement a non-const wrapper iterator for STL collections.

Explicit type conversion to an observable_value, let's call it that for now, shold be disabled by makin the constructor explicit. Any other thoughts on what might be wanted for such a library?

Boost thread doesn't compile on windows if UNICODE is defined

in mutex.inl: if (HMODULE kernel_module = GetModuleHandle(TEXT("KERNEL32.DLL"))) g_TryEnterCriticalSection = reinterpret_cast<TryEnterCriticalSection_type>(GetProcAddress(kernel_module, TEXT("TryEnterCriticalSection"))); The problem is that GetProcAddress() on windows only has ascii version and takes lpcstr as the name of the function to lookup, so if you define UNICODE to do windows unicode build, compiler complains that you're trying to pass WCHAR* as char*. A complication here is with wince, which is the opposite and only takes WCHAR* as the name of the function so the correct code should pass "TryEnterCriticalSection" on non-wince and L"TryEnterCriticalSection" on wince. It also means that successful windows unicode build of boost doesn't seem to be part of release criteria. -- krzysztof kowalczyk
