[mpi] Error generating documentation.

I'm looking into documentation generation as I try to apply some updates to the boost.python tutorial. Following the steps outlined at http://www.boost.org/doc/html/boostbook.html, I get the error error: Unable to find file or target named error: '../libs/parallel/doc//mpi' error: referred from project at error: '.' Am I the first one to run into this issue ? Note that this error appears to affect all documentation generation, not only boost.mpi. Thanks, Stefan -- ...ich hab' noch einen Koffer in Berlin...

[Spirit, shared_ptr] Broken due to last changes.

Hi ! The lastest changes to Boost.SharedPtr seem to have broken spirit compiliation. I get: boost/boost/spirit/core/non_terminal/impl/grammar.ipp:232: error: 'make_shared' is not a member of 'boost' /boost/boost/spirit/core/non_terminal/impl/grammar.ipp:234: error: 'make_shared' is not a member of 'boost' I think that Peter Dimov removed "make_shared" from weak_ptr.h. There has been a thread running with the subject "[system] Why is this not header-only?" that discusses header-only versus compiled-library compilation models for Boost libraries. Some users require the compiled-library approach. I'll characterize these folks as requiring the shorter compile times and better software engineering practice that compiled libraries provide. In some cases these folks have had to rework Boost header-only libraries to create compiled libraries. Some users prefer the header-only approach. They need to be able to quickly set up at new project without messing around with compiled libraries. They want to be able to evaluate Boost libraries without doing any preparatory work altogether. Jeff Garland and Andrey Semashev argued that Boost should adopt a hybrid compilation model that allows applicable Boost libraries to be used in either header-only or compiled-library modes. Note that Boost.Test already provides this, although with degraded functionality in header-only form. There was some discussion as to how to do this; my eyes glazed over when discussions drifted into problems of dlls, singletons, etc. I'll like to challenge Boosters to think about this problem a bit more, and I'd love to see someone who understands the challenges take, say, Boost.System and demonstrate how it could be packaged for either header-only or compiled-library use. The important goal would be to abstract what to done into a general set of guidelines (and any configuration support needed). In other words, we don't so much need a solution for Boost.System as for any Boost library that would benefit from a hybrid computation model. Comments? --Beman

Boost.Test: File/build structure for Boost.Test unit

Hi, I'm using Boost.Test for unit testing a project I am working on. My question is if there is a standard way to set up and structure your unit test project. I am using Eclipse/CDT on Linux and my project is an executable shell script daemon with a bunch of classes compiled and linked into it. In order to unit test the various classes I set up another project, specifically for unit tests that compiles and links in all the classes from the main project. Now, my question is this: do I have one monolithic unittests.cpp file that for all the unit tests or should I set up multiple files which is preferable, e.g. one cpp file per class being tested. Is there a standard "best practices" way to do this? Best Regards, Ari Johannesson
