Hello, In finalizing my SoC proposal for the Signal Network library, I implemented a pair of components which allow signal networks to be built accross multiple computers using Boost.Serialization and asio. An example: computer 1 ----------- // ...construct and connect a tcp asio socket signet::socket_sender sender(socket); generator >>= filter1 >>= sender; computer 2 ----------- // ...construct and connect a tcp asio socket signet::socket_receiver receiver(socket); sender >>= filter2 >>= display; --- This now behaves similar to the following signal network: generator >>= filter1 >>= filter2 >>= display; , but it's distributed accross two computers. The (current) downside is that the receiver is synchronous. If you include <boost/token_functions.hpp> before <boost/tokenizer.hpp> you get a flood of error which seem to stem from it not including <boost/type_traits/is_pointer.hpp>. (this is with RC_1_34_0) Thanks, Michael Marcin

wave cpp_tokens sample has a lexing error

Hello, I'm getting a lexing error when I run the attached file though the cpp_tokens sample. This happened in boost 1.33.1 and with the current boost from CVS. From the output of the program, it seems that it's missing the second double quote in the assignment: matched STRINGLIT (#391) at foo.c ( 5/ 5): >"xxxx\\" BAR "< Leo #define BAR "bar" #define BAZ "baz" const char* foo = "xxxx\\" BAR "\\xxxx\\" BAZ;

[serialization] Support for multiple class name strings

I did something stupid with my serialization code. I blithely changed the names of several polymorphic classes everywhere they appeared in the code, since they had moved out of a class into that class's namespace (e.g. SomeNS::View::Primitive became SomeNS::Primitive). Several months later, I discovered that I could no longer read old binary archives, because I was using Boost.Serialization's BOOST_CLASS_EXPORT() macro, and this macro was now registering the Primtive type with the name-string "Primitive", instead of "View::Primitive", which is how it was saved in the oldest archives. Since there is a 1-1 mapping between name-strings and types, and since most of the Serialization code uses static/global data, I cannot currently support both the archives saved with and the archives saved without the "View::" in the same program. Since I suspect this is not the first time someone has done this, nor the last time someone will do so, is there a way to fix this using the current library? If not, would it be technically possible to add a BOOST_CLASS_EXPORT_ALIAS() macro, or some such? If it is possible, I'm willing to supply the implementation. Zach Laine
