A command line string like -a "\"quoted value\" unquoted_value" does not have its escaped quotes striped out. I am using program_options in Windows to parse the command line of my application. One of the requirements is that I be able to pass in the command line of a different application such as the following: myapp -c "\"c:\App versions\App v1\App.exe\" -a \"A Value\" -b Another_Value" In this case, program_options will correctly parse out the value of the parameter c to be: "c:\App versions\App v1\App.exe" -a "A Value" -b Another_Value However, if I pass in the following: myapp -c "\"c:\App versions\App v1\App.exe\"" program_options parses c as: c:\App versions\App v1\App.exe Note that the escaped quotes were stripped off instead of preserved like you would expect. This is a problem because my application immediately turns around and calls ::CreateProcess using the value of the c parameter. ::CreateProcess' documented behavior is that it executes the first match it can find of c:\App.exe, c:\App versions\App.exe, and c:\App versions\App v1\App.exe. The only way you can stop this behavior is by enclosing the file path in quotes. The code I'm using to get the options is pasted below. Please email me with any questions. how to get boost::iostreams non-buffered ?

Hi, I'm trying to get boost::iostream::stream to work in non buffered mode, because atm I have something like : std::streamsize read(char* s, std::streamsize n) { DWORD total; if(!ReadFile(m_handle.get(), s, 1, &total, 0)) throw device_error(GetLastError()); return total; } And this works, but my 1st try was to use "n" instead of "1", but then it blocked because n is 4096, even when I do a simple .get() on my stream. I saw there was a : stream( const T& t, std::streamsize buffer_size, std::streamsize pback_size ); constructor, and I tried to use it like, stream s(mystreambuf, 0, 0); but it kept asking for 4096 bytes. The boost::iostream buffered/non-buffered part of the documentation simply says : 3.11 Buffering [To be supplied in the next release] So it looks like I'm stuck :) Thank you for your help. Philippe

[non derivable] Submission for Review

I wrote a library which implements the "non derivable" semantics, which is natively supported by some programming languages such as Java or C#. I believe it is mature for a submission and I request everybody for a feedback about the library itself. I could test it only witch GCC 4.1 but it seems to be 100% standard compliant. I published the library in the Vault under the folder "Generic Programming" with the name "nonderivable.zip". I know that in the vault there is a similar library (called "noninheritable") but one must consider that: 1) it uses a different idiom (private constructor and friend declaration) 2) it uses non standard features, while my implementation aims to be 100% standard compliant 3) it uses a different syntax 4) at least my request could increase the interest about that library Usage -------/ Suppose you want to define a final class Foo, then you have to write class Foo : BOOST_NON_DERIVABLE { }; Best regards, Manuel Fiorelli
