To the Rudbek Testmanager. I have noted that the threading library test seem not run since October. Now that I have looked into the regression.log file I suspect that the cvs update is doing something wrong: 1) Boost.Thread is neither from the HEAD nor RC_1_34_0 branch. (It would be nice if this would also be recorded in the log.) 2) There are a lot of error messages (during CVS update) which I do not understand. One example: cvs update: cannot remove boost/spirit/classic/v1_8/utility/impl/chset: Bad address 3) The bjamv2.log finds only ...updating 173 targets... to update, which is astonishingly low. 4) A lot of tests are not run or build (this affects not only threading lib). Can anyone help resolving this issue please? Roland

[signals] connection death notification

Is there any mechanism in boost::signals that could provide notification when a slot/connection dies (is disconnected)? This functionality is needed to "chain" signals effectively. Imagine wrapping an existing signal-based library with a signal-based interface of some other type: a user connects to some signal on the wrapper, which then connects to some corresponding signal in the inner library. If the user disconnects from the wrapper's signal, the wrapper library would like to disconnect its associated connection to the inner library signal---but it has no way of knowing when the user's connection dies. Am I missing some trick that would give me this functionality? Would a patch implementing this functionality be accepted? [1.34.0] Status Report

Hi, This is the status of the 1.34.0 release as I see it. I'll update it on a roughly weekly basis. The main purpose of this is to make people aware of outstanding issues and maybe motivate some volunteers. In general I think regression results are finally looking promising and we should shoot for a beta release before new years. That being said there are still outstanding issues. Regression Tests ================ - Lots of probably configuration related regressions in some msvc tests as pointed out here: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.testing/3751 http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.testing/3749 - concept_check Regressions for borland 5.8.2 and msvc 6.5. The borland fail should be marked expected (http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/ 152138). Who's going to take care of the msvc-6.5 failure? - iostreams Broken on cw-9.4. Anybody working on this? - regex Fails msvc-6.5 no known fix. - test Fails darwin-4.0.1, cw-9.4 no known fix. - utility Fails gcc-3.4.5_linux_x86_64 no know fix. As I said we are getting close, but we *really* need people to look at the outstanding issues. Build ===== - Getting Started Guide Dave is making significant progress on this and I think it'll be a major step forward once it's done. - v2 transition There still seem to exist vestiges of the old build system in some places. Could the respective library authors please take care of this? - Broken Links We still show 116 broken links. Is the report broken or the docs? - License Copyright We still have large number of license copyright issues. To me the do we really need a license/copyright for xxx discussion is not very productive. My personal attitude is get over it and fix it. While this is not a showstopper fixing them will be well received by our users and now is the time to do it. Please let me know of issues not covered here. I'll add them to the list. Compilation Error in Linux

Hi, I am using Boost for the first time and now i am stuck when i try to compile code in Linux. We have Linux RHEL 7.2 and g++ 2.96. I managed to execute the sample code Simple_ls in Windows VC++ 6, but when I try to compile the same code in Linux it gives me many errors. I am using follow command to compile my linux code. g++ -c -I /usr/local/include/boost-1_33_1/ -L /usr/local/lib Simple_ls.cpp I have attached a file which contains the error i am getting. I have never worked on Linux earlier, so i think most probably I am missing out on making some setting in Linux environment or macros If somebody can help me, I would be very grateful. :-)

Please clear out your old BBv1 Jamfiles from HEAD. We found a problem where BBv2 was picking up an old Jamfile that was only designed to work with BBv1 (the name Jamfile.v2 is just a transitional measure, so BBv2 will find Jamfile if no Jamfile.v2 is present). Also, please peruse the list below. GIL: Buffer overflow when reading tiffs

When reading RGBA tiffs, there is a buffer overflow happening in tiff_io.hpp. void apply(const View& view) { ... std::vector<pixel<typename View::channel_t, typename View::color_space_t::base>> row(view.width()); for (int y=0;y<view.height();++y) { io_error_if(TIFFReadScanline(_tp,&row.front(), y)!=1); std::copy(row.begin(),row.end(),view.row_begin(y)); } TIFFReadScanline() can return up to TIFFScanlineSize() bytes of data, in the case of RGBA images the scanline size is larger than the size of row resulting in a buffer overflow (it may happen in other cases as well). A quick fix for that would be to do a row.reserve(TIFFScanlineSize(_tp)); before the loop. \\ The RGBA images will come out corrupted anyway (since there is a mismatch in the number of channels), is there any plan for supporting them? Adding a new type to tiff_io.hpp like: template <> struct tiff_read_support_private<bits16,rgba_t> { BOOST_STATIC_CONSTANT(bool,is_supported=true); BOOST_STATIC_CONSTANT(int,bit_depth=16); BOOST_STATIC_CONSTANT(int,color_type=PHOTOMETRIC_RGB); }; will work fine for static image types.
