Infinite precision integer draft
by Maarten Kronenburg 02 Jun '06

02 Jun '06

If you don't mind I start a new thread here. The unsigned infinite precision integer is different from the base type unsigned int, which is actually a modular integer with modulus 2^n. Therefore two integer derived classes are needed: unsigned_integer and modular_integer. The unsigned_integer is an infinite precision integer which can only be positive or zero. The negate() of a non-zero unsigned_integer will always throw an exception. A subtraction which results in a negative value will do the same; therefore in my opinion there is no fundamental problem with this, as negation is subtraction from zero. The modular_integer has a static method static void set_modulus( const integer & ). When the modulus is not set, it is zero, in that case the modular_integer is identical to integer. Users that like an unsigned integer with a negate() that always works, will have to use a modular_integer and set its modulus to a positive value. In the document I will specify unsigned_integer and modular_integer, and thus implementations can provide them. Regards, Maarten.

[Boost-bugs] [ boost-Patches-1499420 ] [program_options] static const variable on evc4

Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Michael Fink (vividos) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: [program_options] static const variable on evc4 Initial Comment: In Boost.Program_Options, in the file options_description.hpp the constant m_default_line_length is used and declared as static. On evc4 (a vc6 derived compiler) static class constants must be declared in the .cpp file. The patch fixes this by simply removing the "static" keyword. The constant is only used in the class as default ctor parameter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=307586&aid=1499420&group_… _______________________________________________ Boost-bugs mailing list Boost-bugs(a)lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/boost-bugs

[Boost-bugs] [ boost-Patches-1499418 ] [test] no eh exception handling functions on evc4

Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Michael Fink (vividos) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: [test] no eh exception handling functions on evc4 Initial Comment: evc4 has structured exception handling, but doesn't have _set_se_translator to set a new SEH translation callback. The patch disables support for it in boost::test::execution_monitor. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=307586&aid=1499418&group_… _______________________________________________ Boost-bugs mailing list Boost-bugs(a)lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/boost-bugs

[Boost-bugs] [ boost-Support Requests-1498919 ] Boost.Build v2 build script help for evc4
by SourceForge.net 01 Jun '06

Support Requests item #1498919, was opened at 2006-06-01 17:09 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=207586&aid=1498919&group_… Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: Building Boost Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Michael Fink (vividos) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Boost.Build v2 build script help for evc4 Initial Comment: I'm currently porting various Boost libraries to evc4 and threw together a hacked version of the msvc-tools.jam file that is using version 1. For the next release I need help in creating a build script for the version 2 of Boost.Build. I attached a somewhat working version of my "evc4-stlport-tools.jam" file. I don't know if I did everything alright. The differences from evc4 to vc6 is: - there is no /M switch specifying the runtime. It always is "shared C runtime". - for exe files, the parameter /entry:mainACRTStartup must be specified for linking (this currently doesn't work). - for the ARM architecture the following defines are on: ARM, _ARM_, ARMV4 - The _STLP_DEBUG mode mustn't be defined, since the ARM compiler has a compiler bug that prevents from working code - It's best to always specify /Zm800, since the compiler is quickly getting out of memory errors. Can anyone help in creating a toolset file for this compiler? Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=207586&aid=1498919&group_… _______________________________________________ Boost-bugs mailing list Boost-bugs(a)lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/boost-bugs

[Boost-bugs] [ boost-Patches-1498914 ] [thread] evc4 port

Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Michael Fink (vividos) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: [thread] evc4 port Initial Comment: The following patch ports the thread library for evc4. The main issue was using the Ansi-Win32-APIs and string conversion. When BOOST_NO_ANSI_APIS is defined, the sourcecode at some places uses ATLs string conversion macros USES_CONVERSION and A2CT and so I used them, too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=307586&aid=1498914&group_… _______________________________________________ Boost-bugs mailing list Boost-bugs(a)lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/boost-bugs
