[test]unclear failures
by Gennadiy Rozental 14 Jun '05

Hi,, Here some Boost.Test failures I do not understand: 1) test_tools_test fails under CW 9.4/9.5 >From what I gather it looks like that BOOST_MESSAGE( std::hex << std::showbase << 20 ); prints something different from 0x14 Any ideas? 2) errors_handling_test Failes only under cw-9.5-darwin. Could somebody run this test with --save_pattern=yes option and collect the file generated? 3) basic_cstring_test Failes under como-4_3_3-vc7_1 with prelink errors (http://tinyurl.com/b6cpe) Any help/explanation apriciated. 4) token_iterator_test Failes at runtime (abort) under gcc- 3.4.4- linux and gcc- 4.0.0- linux. My guess it's compler bug. Could somebody confirm? 5) test_fp_comparisons Failes at runtime under borland- 5_6_4. All CHECK_NOT_CLOSE assertions failes for some reason. could somebody handy with this compiler figure out why? 6) token_iterator_test Failes under mingw (3.2.3) during linking with undefined reference to std::char_traits<wchar_t>. I know that mingw doesn't have wchar_t. But BOOST_NO_CWCHAR is not defined for some reason. 7) Also gcc- 4_0_0- linux- i686- release failes ifstream_line_iterator_test (looks like compiler crashed) and parameterized_test_test(runtime failures) for which I do not have any explanations. Gennadiy.

[report][autolink] conflicts with new toolset names
by Joaquín Mª López Muñoz 14 Jun '05

14 Jun '05

Excuse my being a little insistent on this,but I think the problem should be addressed one way or another, as it's causing tons of regressions. I've prepared a patch for tools/build/v1/boost-base.jam (attached). Is it OK to commit? Original message: autolink assumes the following toolset tags for libraries generated under the MSVC familiy of compilers: 6.0, 6.5 --> "v6" 7.0 --> "vc7" 7.1 --> "vc71" 8.0 --> "vc80" Yet tools/build/v1/boost-base.jam does the following: local include-minor-version = YES ; switch $(toolset) { case borland* : toolset-tag += bcb ; case como* : toolset-tag += como ; case cwpro8* : toolset-tag += cw 8 ; case cwpro9* : toolset-tag += cw 9 ; case cw-* : toolset-tag += cw ; include-minor-version = ; case darwin* : toolset-tag += ; case edg* : toolset-tag += edg ; case gcc* : toolset-tag += gcc ; case intel-linux* : toolset-tag += il ; case intel-win32* : toolset-tag += iw ; case kcc* : toolset-tag += kcc ; case kylix* : toolset-tag += bck ; case metrowerks* : toolset-tag += cw ; case mingw* : toolset-tag += mgw ; case mipspro* : toolset-tag += mp ; case msvc* : toolset-tag += vc 6 ; case sunpro* : toolset-tag += sw ; case tru64cxx* : toolset-tag += tru ; case vacpp* : toolset-tag += xlc ; case vc[678][_]* : { toolset-tag += vc ; toolset-tag += [ MATCH "vc([678])[_]([0123456789]*)" : $(toolset) ] ; } case vc[678]* : { toolset-tag += vc ; toolset-tag += [ MATCH "vc([678])" : $(toolset) ] ; } case * : toolset-tag += [ MATCH "^([^-]*)" : $(toolset) ] ; } if $(include-minor-version) { toolset-tag += [ MATCH "[-]([0123456789]+)[_.]([0123456789]*)" : $(toolset) ] ; } else { toolset-tag += [ MATCH "[-]([0123456789]+)[_.][0123456789]*" : $(toolset) ] ; } which does not match autolink expectations for the following toolsets adhering to the new naming conventions: vc-6_5 --> vc65 (expected vc6) vc-7_0 --> vc70 (expected v7) I guess it suffices to apply the following postrule in boost-base.jam switch $(toolset-tag) { case vc6* : toolset-tag = vc6 ; case vc70 : toolset-tag = vc7 ; } but someone more acquainted with bjam than me might come up with a nicer reformulation. Currently, this is breaking dozens of tests in the metacomm engine, which recently switched to vc-6_5-stlport and vc-7_0 toolsets. Do I commit this? Someone can tackle the issue more elegantly? Thank you, Joaquín M López Muñoz Telefónica, Investigación y Desarrollo 2672a2673,2681 > > # boost/config/auto_link.hpp expects toolset tags that do not always > # match the above algorithm for MSVC 6.x and 7.0. > # > switch $(toolset-tag) > { > case vc6* : toolset-tag = vc 6 ; > case vc70 : toolset-tag = vc 7 ; > }

[regex] nested negated character classes
by Eric Niebler 14 Jun '05

14 Jun '05

The following trivial pattern: boost::regex pat("[\\D]"); throws an "Invalid or trailing backslash" exception. This is in violation of the ECMAScript (ECMA-262) specification, section 15.10.1, which means Boost.Regex does not satisfy TR1. Known problem? Any intention to fix this? -- Eric Niebler Boost Consulting www.boost-consulting.com

[test] Shouldn't a run-fail test pass on abort()?
by Andreas Huber 14 Jun '05

14 Jun '05

It seems that a run-fail test does not pass when test_main() calls abort() or assert( false ). Is there any way how I can test these scenarios? Thanks & Regards, -- Andreas Huber When replying by private email, please remove the words spam and trap from the address shown in the header.

Who's Using Boost - Thankyou and updates
by John Maddock 14 Jun '05

14 Jun '05

Big thankyou to everyone who's responded to the "Who's Using Boost?" message, there is now an updated version of the web pages at: http://freespace.virgin.net/boost.regex/who/html/index.html Please do take a moment to check that your entry is correct, and if you haven't submitted an entry yet, why not ? :-> I hope to move this into cvs soon, but the question then becomes: before or after the release? Opinions on that welcome. Thanks, John.

fstream_test.cpp
by Jason Heyes 14 Jun '05

14 Jun '05

I receive errors when I try to compile fstream_test.cpp using Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0. The first error I receive is this: fstream_test.cpp c:\boost\include\boost-1_32\boost\filesystem\fstream.hpp(29): error C2504: 'basic_filebuf<char,char_traits<char> >': base class undefined c:\projects\examples\fstream_test.cpp(27): see reference to class template instantiation 'boost::filesystem::basic_filebuf<char,char_traits<char> >' being compiled Is there a workaround for this? Thanks. Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com

Build with ICU support
by Neal Becker 14 Jun '05

14 Jun '05

I have Fedora (pre-FC4). There are packages for icu: libicu, libicu-devel, libicu-doc which I installed. I can't seem to convince bjam to use them. What do I need to do? Headers are in /usr/include/unicode (e.g., /usr/include/utypes.h). Libs are rpm -ql libicu /usr/lib64/libicudata.so.32 /usr/lib64/libicudata.so.32.0 /usr/lib64/libicui18n.so.32 /usr/lib64/libicui18n.so.32.0 /usr/lib64/libicuio.so.32 /usr/lib64/libicuio.so.32.0 /usr/lib64/libicule.so.32 /usr/lib64/libicule.so.32.0 /usr/lib64/libiculx.so.32 /usr/lib64/libiculx.so.32.0 /usr/lib64/libicutu.so.32 /usr/lib64/libicutu.so.32.0 /usr/lib64/libicuuc.so.32 /usr/lib64/libicuuc.so.32.0

[Boost-bugs] [ boost-Bugs-1220358 ] binomial_distribution.hpp

Bugs item #1220358, was opened at 2005-06-14 05:52 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=107586&aid=1220358&group_… Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: random Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Jens Maurer (jmaurer) Summary: binomial_distribution.hpp Initial Comment: binomial_distribution gives wrong results, because ctor only default initializes private member _bernoulli, therefore probability is always p=0.5 (the default of bernoulli_distribution). Solution: put _bernoulli(p) into the initializes list of binomial_distribution ctor.
