Fumbling with modular Boost and GIT

I have recently been fumbling with Modular Boost to do some routine maintenance and update of documentation on Boost.Math, with generally most unhappy results. Although this is partly from my general modest familiarity with GIT, I feel that the documentation of the process of doing things is woefully thin. There are far too many vital details assumed or unsaid. I'm posting this in the hope that someone will produce a fully documented and illustrated blow-by-blow (preferably using Tortoise GIT and including its displays) description of how to work cooperatively on the develop branch, and a specific library development sub-branch. This should cover (at least) getting changes to headers in /boost and /libs made by others, making a change to a header file, making a change to tests, testing it using an IDE, and making a change to an example (containing some embedded Quickbook) in and IDE and running it, and to changing Quickbook files in the /library/doc folder, and finally pushing. [Program Options] fix for #6797 breaks compilation

Hi Volodya, the fix for #6797 in 4ae33ce15e5b6345e6eefa19466fdf7cd28a7bbd breaks compilation if Boost.ProgramOptions on msvc-11.0 and -12.0. See full error log with msvc-11.0 attached. It seems that the export macros changes the template evaluation somehow, so msvc now needs "decrement" and "advance" member. The short error is: E:\dev\devel\boost\boost/iterator/iterator_facade.hpp(402) : error C2039: 'decrement' : is not a member of 'boost::program_options::detail::common_config_file_iterator' E:\dev\devel\boost\boost/iterator/iterator_facade.hpp(420) : error C2039: 'advance' : is not a member of 'boost::program_options::detail::common_config_file_iterator' I'm not sure how to implement at least empty stubs or if this can be otherwise worked around. Once accepted, when does a library undergo further review?

However, once a library has been accepted, it doesn't seem to go through any more peer review. [git] Some headers are executable

Hi, I've just checked out git and ran b2 headers and noticed that some headers have executable attribute. For example: $ find boost -executable -type f boost/pointee.hpp boost/assign.hpp boost/graph/vf2_sub_graph_iso.hpp boost/indirect_reference.hpp boost/parameter.hpp boost/detail/indirect_traits.hpp boost/detail/is_xxx.hpp boost/range.hpp This was not the case with svn. Is this the result of the transition? Can this be fixed?

[github] default PR destination

hi all, any opinion to change the default branch from "master" to "develop"? with the boost branching model all contributions via github's pull requests apparently have to go to "develop" rather than going directly into "master", so this should be the default destination for pull requests. github allows to set the default branch [1] ... not sure if this has any other side effects, but i'd vote for changing the default to "develop". thoughts? tim [1] https://help.github.com/articles/setting-the-default-branch
