We could rip it out. But unfortunately it's used in:
libs/date_time/build/Jamfile
libs/dynamic_bitset/Jamfile
libs/format/test/Jamfile
libs/graph/example/Jamfile
libs/graph/test/Jamfile
libs/lambda/test/Jamfile
libs/mpl/test/Jamfile
libs/regex/test/Jamfile
libs/static_assert/Jamfile
libs/tuple/test/Jamfile
So redirecting seems like the only option.
