I've been bitten by this problem once or twice. I notice that the
NORMALIZE_PATH builtin was added to bjam around 3 weeks ago, but
patchlevel.h hasn't been updated in 8 weeks. If the latest version of
BBv2 requires NORMALIZE_PATH, perhaps the thing to do is increment the
bjam version to 3.1.7, and bump kernel/bootstrap.jam appropriately?
I realize that this wouldn't have solved the problems of the missing
--v2 flag, but it will clue users in that bjam needs to be updated.
