Ah, yes, the frame I thought it was missing is actually printed before the
error message. I've now altered my local version so it reports errors like
this:

Jamtest(2) : argument error - missing argument `foo':
Jamtest(1) : rule four ( foo )
Jamtest(2) : called with: ( ) in three
Jamtest(3) : in two
Jamtest(4) : in one
Jamtest(5) : in module scope

Patch at http://212.74.15.139/jam/messages.patch if you're interested
(changes some other messages as well).
