Documentation set to use?

I am just beginning to learn boost's build system, but am a little 
confused about which documentation set to use?

Which will be better for a newbie such as myself?

BASIC COMMENTS:
A simple paragraph about the history and status of the build tool 
versions relative to the documents floating around might help reduce 
confusion. i.e. when to use jam vs bjam v1 vs bjam v2, and what 
changes between the built-ins, and jambase for each.
