I don't see duplication... AFAICT (2) and (3) both point you to (1) on 
how to build bjam. But perhaps that's not clear?

Well that Howto is getting rewritten by Hendrik, see the "Customer 
Friendlier Boost Installation" thread on the Boost dev list. And 
v1/build_system.htm will eventually go away to be replaced by the BBv2 
documentation.
