[Boost-testing] Global variables in the namespace unit_test

Hello

I have one question about the design from unit_test. Why reside global
variables in the unit_test namespace resp. in the unnamed namespace? Why it
was not used the singleton pattern like unit_test_log_t?
This interests me...
