Hi,
I am trying to use darwinports to install boost 1.34.0, Revision 1, on OS X 10.3.9 with gcc version 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1671) and there seems to be some problem. After issuing "sudo port install boost", I get the message:
Staging boost into destroot
and then from there on it takes on forever. At the same time there is a process running cc1plus that seems to be eating away all the RAM, and the virtual memory being used by it increases to almost 2 Gb and my computer slows down.
So my question is: is there some known problem with this version of boost on this version of gcc/OS? If not, then is there a very simple way of installing boost 1.34 on this OS? The last time I used bjam for some other version, I had lots of problems, but the installation went smoothly using darwinports.
thanks,
--a.
