Hum... Thanks for spotting that. Seems that file has \r\r\n sequences. I
was converting \r\n to \n, rather than just removing \r's. Worried about
Mac files which, IIRC, use \r for line terminators. Perhaps first convert
\r\n to \n, and then if any \r's left over, convert them to \n.
