Note that I only got the linker error when trying to def
both specific_1 and specific_2 simultaneously. Either one
alone worked fine.
This was with VC++6.0 SP4.

When tracking down the problem, I stripped my code down to
a minimum. That way I was able to trigger the error with just
two def's and only then the pattern became clear. Have you
tried this strategy?
Another thing I tried was a Google search with characteristic
bits from the error message. There are a few postings scattered
all over the world related to this error. Maybe you get a clue
from these.
