I think it is nice looking, but I think first time visitors might be a
little bit confused by the two boxes. Does the "Libraries" link in the
horizontal box have anything different than what is listed in the
vertical box? What's the significance of the two sets of links? Is one
set more important?

I don't know what the correct solution is but it might be one of the
following:

*) Ignore the problem. People might wonder, but can still find what they
need to know by clicking on the links which are, after all, pretty
clear.

*) On the home page, remove the link boxes in the horizontal box.
(Perhaps the boost.gif could be top-aligned with the vertical box and to
its right.)

*) Make the links in the link boxes in the horizontal box reflect the
organization and order of the main catagories in the vertical box
(Libraries, Support, About, Mailing Lists, Other)

I think the change is a welcome improvement and I recommend that it be
accepted. :)
