If you just want to look at a file or two, you can do it via the browser 
interface.  See http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/boost/boost/

You can use the "Show only files with tag:" list at the bottom of the page 
to control what branch you are looking at.
