Beman mentions the .gz file, though.

Looks like you got an incomplete download - I get "huff+mtf rt+rld"
all the way up to block 47 and then "ok". Here's the file data:
$ ls -l boost_1_31_0.tar.bz2
-rwxrwxrwx 1 Raoul None 6979482 Feb 7 21:41 boost_1_31_0.tar.bz2
$ md5sum -b boost_1_31_0.tar.bz2
