There is a fresh draft of a Boost Development Environment proposal up at
This is a continuation of the "Proposal for radically altered approach
to releases" discussion of a year ago. The topic has broadened as it has
become obvious that release management is best dealt with in relation to
our overall development environment, rather than something that happens
The proposal reflects a discussion at BoostCon with Troy Straszheim,
Dave Abrahams, Eric Niebler, and Doug Gregor, and also insights from
Thomas Witt regarding difficulties with release stability.
The plan is to implement this proposal as we move to Subversion, so that
things like directory permissions can be set up accordingly.
