It works fine for me too when imbuing boost UTF-8 codecvt facet - see 
the original post. But it doesn't work somehow when imbuing system 
codecvt (system locale encoding is UTF-8).

This is what looks like a bug. I don't know where it is yet - boost, me, 
or my libstdc++ implementation (gcc 3.4.6).
