I didn't feel offended.  However, the moderators did receive a
complaint.  I told the complainant I wasn't inclined to do anything
"official" about it, and none of the other moderators responded.  

But then Pavel went out of his way to ask for feedback about his
communication style, of which his email handle is certainly a part.  I
didn't feel it out of place to give him my personal reaction.
