Hi, Does anyone of you know how to get the source code of the boost.interfacelibrary. ( http://www.cdiggins.com/bil.html) Thanks, Salinda

[threads] [1.35 RC2] forward declaration of exclusive_lock without definition in thread/locks.h
by vicente.botet 25 Mar '08

25 Mar '08

Hi, In boost/thread/locks.hpp, there is a forward declaration which is not defined anywhere. template<typename Mutex> class exclusive_lock; I suppose that this is an error. Regards _____________________ Vicente Juan Botet Escriba

[proto]purpose of binary_expr<T,L,R>::type ?
by Larry Evans 24 Mar '08

24 Mar '08

Just as: terminal<X>:;type is the type of expressions matching the grammar, terminal<X>, I would expect that binary_expr<T,L,R>::type would match binary_expr<T,L,R>. IOW, just as: matches<terminal<X>::type,terminal<X> > is true, should: matches<binary_expr<T,L,R>::type,binary_expr<T,L,R> > be true? If not, then what is the purpose of binary_expr<,,>::type? If yes, then why am I getting an error with the attached driver whose compilation output is also attached? gcc.compile.c++ ../../../../../bin.v2/sandbox/lje/libs/proto/experiments3/gram_type_test.test/gcc-4.1/debug/link-static/gram_type_test.o gram_type_test.cpp:29: error: conversion from ' boost::proto::exprns_::expr<boost::proto::tag::shift_right, boost::proto::argsns_::args2<boost::proto::exprns_::expr<boost::proto::tag::terminal, boost::proto::argsns_::args0<ti<0> >, 0l>, boost::proto::exprns_::expr<boost::proto::tag::terminal, boost::proto::argsns_::args0<ti<0> >, 0l> >, 2l> ' to non-scalar type ' boost::proto::exprns_::expr<boost::proto::tag::shift_right, boost::proto::argsns_::args2<boost::proto::op::terminal<ti<0> >, boost::proto::op::terminal<ti<0> > >, 2l> ' requested

Passing strings as a template parameter (small utility)
by Tom Brinkman 24 Mar '08

>>Now that I think about it some more, there's really nothing stopping us >>from taking this much farther -- access individual characters, calculate >>the length, slice and substr, even search and replace. There's no reason >>why ctstring<> can't implement most of the std::string interface at >>compile time. This would be great showcase of the advanced work being done by boost developers. This would have a "high" wow factor. I bet, the vast horde of "old-style" c++ developers what immediately step up and take notice.

[Serialization] test_exported_*_archive failures
by Sohail Somani 24 Mar '08

24 Mar '08

On trunk, revision 43795. Does anyone know why these are failing? These are the only tests failing on my machine (g++ 4.1.3 on 32-bit Linux). Additionally test_*_dll don't seem to be running either... Anyway, the error I see is: ../libs/serialization/test/test_tools.hpp(182): unregistered void cast in function 'int main(int, char**)' >From a quick inspection, it appears that the cast between base and derived never gets registered. I'm actually unsure as to how the void cast can get registered *before* BOOST_SERIALIZATION_BASE_OBJECT_NVP(Base) gets executed and therefore, I'm not sure how these tests are passing anywhere else. Where/when is the Base<->Derived cast supposed to be registered in test_exported.cpp? I can only see it being registered when serialize is called for the first time on the polymorphic_derived[12]. -- Sohail Somani http://uint32t.blogspot.com

Feel free to contradict me and change > it back Dave, While we aren't really targeting VC++ 9.0 with this release, most of the problems being turned up have relatively easy fixes so I'd like to get them in 1.35.0 if doing so does not result in a delay. Thus if this one really is easy, and if someone will try the changes and walk them through the process in the next day or two, I'd like to see the fix in 1.35.0. Otherwise it can wait 'til the next release. --Beman > > > -- > Ticket URL: <http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/1697#comment:1> > Boost C++ Libraries <http://www.boost.org/> > Boost provides free peer-reviewed portable C++ source libraries.

problem with shared_from_this in trunk
by Tim Blechmann 24 Mar '08

24 Mar '08

hi all, a few days ago, some changes to the shared_from_this implementation have been committed to the trunk ... the changes break the following code, though (maybe this can be added to the shared_from_this_test.cpp test suite?): struct V: public boost::enable_shared_from_this<V> {}; struct W: V {}; void test4(void) { W * w = new W(); boost::shared_ptr<W> p(w); } best, tim -- tim(a)klingt.org http://tim.klingt.org Most of the trouble in this world has been caused by folks who can't mind their own business, because they have no business of their own to mind, any more than a smallpox virus has. [serialization] missing #include in test_static_warning.cpp
by Boris Gubenko 24 Mar '08

24 Mar '08

test_static_warning.cpp uses EXIT_SUCCESS without #include'ing <stdlib.h>/<cstdlib>. Because of this, the test fails to compile on HP-UX/ia64/gcc. Thanks, Boris

[GSoC 2008] Special Function and Integral Transformation Library
by Barco You 24 Mar '08

24 Mar '08

Hello, I'm a student of HUST in China, named Barco You. I think we should have a general integral (or accumulative for discrete problem) transformation library, just as we have Matrix with relevant algorithms which could be dedicated to applications. My idea is that we should construct a general transformation model continuous and discrete, and the model can be instantiated for varieties of transform kernel. The transform kernel can be for: Fourier Transform (continuous and discrete) Windowed Fourier Transform Laplace Transform Wavelet Transform Gaussian Transform Z Transform .... For doing the transforms we surely need some special functions, so a special function library should also be included. Feedback, suggestion and critique are appreciated. ------------------------------- Enjoy life! Barco You
