Hi all, Today starts the formal Fast-Track review of the Boost.Functional/Factory library. *Description* Factories are callback mechanisms for constructors, so we provide two function objects, boost::value_factory and boost::factory, that encasulate object construction through direct application of the constructor or operator new, respectively. [Boost-users] Run-time flavors of Boost (aka lib suffix / runtime-options)

Hello list, [I already sent this question to Boost-users but nobody replied there, so I guess that you people might have a better idea] Boost libraries often ship compiled in various different "flavors" (compiled with different runtime-options). First off, is there an official place where this is documented? I didn't find any, besides the header `boost/config/auto_link.hpp'. Based on this header, I tried to document the suffix used by Boost libraries as follows: > A suffix is one or more of the following letters: sgdpn (in that > order). s = static runtime, d = debug build, g = debug/diagnostic > runtime, p = STLPort > build, n = (unsure) STLPort build without iostreams from STLPort > (it looks > like `n' must always be used along with `p'). Additionally, it can > start > with `mt-' to indicate for multi-thread builds. Is this accurate? What is a `static runtime'? My guess is that `-s' is Windows-specific, because on Windows it's common to see both shared libraries and static libraries using the same naming scheme `libfoo.lib' (because in the shared library case, `libfoo.lib' is not a directly shared library but rather an import library), can anyone confirm that? This entails that for most UNIX-like OSes, the `-s' variant doesn't exist, it's the `libfoo.a' static archive that is used instead, is that correct? [serialization] serialization used in multiple DLL problems

And making tk_map and kt_map global objects (not sure if this is necessary though), removing the assertion about multiple inserts in static insert function of both [kt][tk]_map's and commenting line 315 of basic_oarchive: //if((cobject_info_set.size() > original_count)){ +{ I don't know the internals of serialization enough to say this is anything near correct. Beta Distribution for boost::random

Hello, I have implemented support for the beta distribution for boost::random. I was wondering who I should send it to for examination and possible acceptance into boost? The method is based on the paper "Generating Beta Variates with Nonintegral Shape Parameters" ( http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=359460.359482) by R. C. H. Cheng, which was the best performing fully general purpose method I could find. It uses a reject method whose success rate varies based on the parameters, but whose worst case expected number of samples is 4. [iterator, test] Patches for PA_RISC HP-UX 11.11 compatibility

[I am repeating this post as no one replied to it and I guess it could have gotten overlooked in the original thread.] Hi. I'm attaching two patches - one for the Boost test and one for the Boost iterator library to make them compatible with HP-UX PA_RISC 11.11 system headers. These headers define global preprocessor macros R1, R2, ... so the patches rename similarly named identifiers in Boost code. Patches have been prepared based on SVN revision 41987. They are simple local variable and template parameter renames which should not cause any problems. New names are a bit more verbose to eliminate possible conflicts with headers on other system. Could someone please apply them? And could they be applied to the 1.35 branch as well? These patches in additional to two slight tweaks inside Boost ASIO will allow Boost ASIO to compile and pass all tests on this platform. Hope this helps.
