Boost threadsafe singleton?

I'm review the serialization library with the eye of making it threadsafe. I think that very useful in this effort would be lightweight threadsafe singleton. There are tons of cyberbits spilled on this topic - but much to my suprise and disappointment, no boost library for this purpose. Someone please tell me its here but that I just haven't found it. [library_status] Small patch.

Hello, attached patch fixes the following problems encountered when compiling library_status.cpp on Tru64/CXX: 1) Fix the definition of subcolumns_t, the key type of std::map must be assignable, hence const string is not a valid key type. 2) Make empty_element static, as find_element() returns a reference to it. 3) Swap static and const in the declaration of empty_string to avoid a compiler warning. Could anybody please be so kind and apply the patch? Hello. I experienced python core dump while running a script that uses module written with help of Boost.Python. This script is supposed to run for a long time. After few hours it crashed. As python version 2.5 is pretty well established, I think this version should be considered from boost build-process in Windows machines. We have several multi_index_containers around (they are *very* useful), and we would like to measure the memory overhead of these containers. Is there a way to determine the per-item overhead of a multi_index_container? - Doug
