Trac ticket #1009 describes a bad, longstanding bug in the Graph library's handling of overflow in shortest-paths algorithms: http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/1009 I would like the attached patch (also attached to the ticket) to be considered for 1.34.1. The problem manifests itself as a bug in the Bellman-Ford algorithm (and probably others), making them produce incorrect results, such as the one reported here: http://lists.boost.org/boost-users/2007/05/28205.php The fix is simple, relatively low-risk, fully tested on Linux with GCC 4.1.1, and solves a rather embarrassing problem in the BGL. - Doug

boost::final similar to boost::noncopyable

Hi all, The question is why there is not a boost::final similar to boost::noncopyable? But first, let me tell you a little what I'm trying to achieve in my project and what drive me to look for a boost::final class. In my framework I have a class hierarchy for objects to be thrown. Base exception class is not abstract, so I can throw either base generalException or mathException (exception from math library) or whatever special kind of exception. To handle exception propagation from threads I decided to add clone and throw methods to all the exception classes and now, it looks like it makes sense to change generalException to declare abstract the clone and throw methods and to allow throw only of concrete classes of exceptions. So I got in the place where I need to block client libraries from defining hierarchy like: generalException >-- layerException >-- clientException where they skip defining clone/throw in classes like clientException. For this I was looking for a way to make classes like layerException "final", i.e. to disallow further inheritance from it, and comment out why I made it final. While looking for a suitable solution I checked the boost thinking that as there is the boos::noncopyable there must be also a boost::final or similar. GCC compiles it nicely, so who is wrong? Are there any other "standard" ways known to disallow inheriting from the class except listed in the C++ FAQ LITE?

The changelog for 1.34.0 states: [...] * New functions status, symlink_status, is_file, is_symlink, create_hard_link, create_symlink, path member and non-member swap, path inserter, path extractor, additional path relational and "/" operator overloads, additional path member template functions taking iterator arguments. [...] I tried to use "is_file" but it seems to be undefined. But filesystem/operations.hpp defines the following function: inline bool is_regular( file_status f ) { return f.type() == regular_file; } If I interpret that right, then "is_iregular" is what is called "is_file" in the documentation. [serialization] codecvt_null.cpp not present in windows dlls

Something odd seems to be happening on the Windows platform for the serialization library, in CVS HEAD. All the text based wide-char dynamic library tests are failing as the two functions defined in codecvt_null.cpp are not found by the linkers. I've had a quick play around with the jam files but still don't understand process/library well enough to find a fix (or even casuse of the problem) -- AlisdairM

How does math_info report signalling NaN values? I am trying to find regressions in a certain compiler config, and it fails math_info test as soon as it tries to evaluate the signalling NaN values - as it duly generates an unhandled signal and terminates. None of the other platforms appear to have this problem, or I can't see any obvious workaround if they do, yet the behaviour makes sense to me. Am I missing something obvious? -- AlisdairM

What should this program print? boost::regex r("(a)"); std::cout << r.mark_count(); My tests show "2". I think the answer should be "1". Is my reading correct? If so, Boost.Regex is not compliant. FWIW, xpressive reports that the regex "(a)" has a mark_count of 1.
