The standard also says that the compiler can reorder anything it wants to as long as the sequence of volatile reads and writes and calls to library IO functions is unchanged (1.9/5-6). i.e. the compiler only has to make it appear that all previous side effects are completed at a sequence point. [program_options] compile error in libs/program_options/src/convert.cpp

I get the following error while compiling libs/program_options/src/convert.cpp. libs/program_options/src/convert.cpp:100: instantiated from here libs/program_options/src/convert.cpp:48: warning: missing braces around initializer for 'int [6]' Line 48 is: std::mbstate_t state = {0}; The problem is simple but wasn't immediately obvious. The definition of mbstate_t from the cwchar header is: typedef struct { int __fill[6]; } mbstate_t; The int[6] in the error message is actually coming from the first element in mbstate_t. A change that makes the error go away is: std::mbstate_t state = {{0}}; Since I found cwchar in the include/c++/4.1.1 directory the layout of this structure probably isn't guaranteed to be the same across compilers or compiler versions. Perhaps the following would be better: std::mbstate_t state; memset( &state, 0, sizeof(state) ); Has anybody noticed whether this structure has the same definition across compilers? (i.e. gcc, VC, SunCC, etc) -glenn

boost.graph python bindings build against RC-1-34

Hi, Has anyone had any joy building these against the latest RC_1_34_0? I think the support for boost.build v1 has been removed from the latest CVS version. The bgl-python library still uses v1 Jamfiles though. Even if I update these to v2 jamfiles I still get compilation errors: bgl-python\boost/graph/python/resizable_property_map.hpp(56) : error C2039: 'get_store' : is not a member of 'boost::vector_property_map<T,IndexMap>' Any advice on the easiest way to proceed? Maybe I should download 1_33_1 and compile against that. Does anyone have any pre-built binaries for python 2.5? Thanks, John.

Hi, This is the status of the 1.34.0 release as I see it. I'll update it on a roughly weekly basis. The main purpose of this is to make people aware of outstanding issues and maybe motivate some volunteers. Well by now everybody should have noticed that the beta release did not happen before new years. Lets try the same thing for 2007 then. That being said we are slowly inching forward. Some of the issues in the last report have been fixed. For a (probably incomplete) list of things please look at the end of this message New Issues ********** - build Possible documentation issue. http://article.gmane.org/ gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/152751. No known fix. - date_time Fails qcc-3.3.5_gpp. No known fix. Possible documentation issue. http://article.gmane.org/ gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/152753. No known fix. - ptr_map Thorsten proposed a patch as a follow up of this message http:// article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/152788. I'd really like to have another set of eyes look at this before it goes in. - test http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/152728.
