This is due to the fact that builtin_varnames relies upon module_t::variables struct member being not NULL if there are variables in the module, which is wrong for the "currently running module" (i.e. frame->module->variables is _always_ NULL). This is due to the way enter_module() and var_hash_swap() work. Since builtin_varnames() always runs in the global module context, global module's 'variables' member is always NULL when builtin_varnames() is called. With the most recent boost CVS I get the new EDG warning below (MIPSpro 7.41 = EDG 245). Is this warning useful? Or should I simply turn it off? Thanks! I'm getting uninitialized memory errors in a program that uses Boost.Graph. This happens because add_edge(u, v, g) calls add_edge(u, v, p, g) copying a default constructed edge property. The no argument constructor for property in directory pending is: property() { } so if T is a primitive type it is left uninitialized. I think this should be changed to property() : m_value() { } Regards, Bruno

shared_ptr overload ambiguous

Hi, When using overloaded functions with shared_ptr parameter, overload resolution is often ambigous. It is ambigous in situations where using raw pointers would not be ambigous. I've seen a few workarounds. One workaround is to make one of the two functions a template function, but that does not work in all cases. Another workaround is to just give the functions different names, but you can't do that when the function is a CTOR. Well, to my surprise, I found a post from Artyom Borodkin from last December that explains how it can be permanently fixed in boost itself! I thought there was no way I would ever resolve this. http://lists.boost.org/Archives/boost/2005/12/97817.php I went ahead and tested his suggestion by modifying the boost source (I had to change slightly what he wrote), and it worked! I changed this constructor: template<class Y> shared_ptr(shared_ptr<Y> const & r): px(r.px), pn(r.pn) // never throws { } to this: template<class Y> shared_ptr(shared_ptr<Y> const & r, typename enable_if<typename is_convertible<Y*, T*>::type, void*>::type = 0): px(r.px), pn(r.pn) // never throws { } So to iterate what Artyom said, why would we not want to do this?! Using shared_ptr needlessly results in ambiguous function call

Hi, I posted about this a week or so ago, but didn't get any response. So I'm trying again.
