What's up with boost/utility/ ?

I'm wondering how the "boost/utility/" directory and utility.hpp header are managed. A few things I have noticed about it: - on the library documentation page, "utility" links point to "utility.htm" which does not document all of the libraries in the utility directory. Some of those libraries, like enable_if, have their own entry. - checked_delete() is documented in "utility.htm", but it is not in the boost/utility directory - there is a documentation page "boost/utility/index.html", but it doesn't seem to be linked to from anywhere. Some of the documentation referenced on that page has no other reference, and therefore seems inaccessible except through google. Is Boost.Utility a single library with multiple developers? Is it a directory where separate libraries get placed under some criteria? Where would a link to "boost/utility/index.html" rightfully go (or should each header in utility have its own documentation from the toplevel)? Why is checked_delete not in the "boost/utility" directory? Thanks, ron

[parameter] Named Template Parameter

Hi, I'm adventuring through the named template parameter support in the parameter library, using the test ntp.cpp as a documentation. But, AFAICS, there's no support for named template template parameters, is that right? Couldnt it be possible to add such feature? I think it is possible if we use a different binding and an template_template_keyword (or with another name) ? the parameter requirements would be different though.... I could code this support if there would be a support on how to do it (what would it break and etc?) I'm really needing this feature ASAP. Thanks, -- Felipe Magno de Almeida

Hi, I'm trying to get boost working for x86_64 and Itanium on Windows. The result environment combination is rather strange: Platform SDK contains old Dinkumware STL and new compiler (14.0). So, the biggest problems is that I have to compile it without native wchar_t support. And lexical_cast is one of places where a problem exists: #if defined(BOOST_NO_STRINGSTREAM) || \ defined(BOOST_NO_STD_WSTRING) || \ defined(BOOST_NO_STD_LOCALE) || \ defined(BOOST_NO_INTRINSIC_WCHAR_T) #define DISABLE_WIDE_CHAR_SUPPORT #endif You can see that wchar_t support is disabled compeletely in lexical_cast if wchar_t is not available as a native type. Why is it so? It seems that I got it working if I change it to #if defined(BOOST_NO_STRINGSTREAM) || \ defined(BOOST_NO_STD_WSTRING) || \ defined(BOOST_NO_STD_LOCALE) #define DISABLE_WIDE_CHAR_SUPPORT #endif But probably there are some caveats here. Both foreach and statechart have been accepted into boost and added to the boost CVS, but as of today (February 13) neither has been added to the "What's new" section of the index. Will either be included in the 1.34 release? Joe Gottman

Hi all, I made two changes to biconnected components algorithm. First, because algorithm expects an udirected graph, I reduced the invocation of visitor's on_back_edge event for one direction only. Second, I modified the predecessor map use and now after algorithm completion map contains the full depth first search tree. Patch for code and documentation is attached. -- Regards, Janusz

[algorithm/string] New test failures on Tru64/CXX

Added the following declaration template <typename ForwardIteratorT> iterator_range<ForwardIteratorT> find_tail_impl( ForwardIteratorT Begin, ForwardIteratorT End, unsigned int N); at line 394, just before the definition of struct head_finderF makes the tests compile and pass ok. I have to admit I'm not sure that the compiler is right to complain about this, but it seems reasonable to me. As part of the new [un]named template parameter support, we are considering a breaking change to the binding<ArgumentPack, Keyword, Default = void> metafunction. Right now, when no 3rd argument is supplied indicating the default type, and the ArgumentPack contains no matching keyword, the result is void. Under the proposed change, the result would be a compile-time error. The upshot is that, to find out whether a particular parameter is in the ArgumentPack, you'd need to supply some tag type that you know won't appear in the ArgumentPack as the 3rd argument to binding, and check for that.
