I think that's only appropriate when properly installed (Boost.Build
tends to place the executable in an unpredictable location)

Not appropriate, invocation will vary.

Again, requires installation.

Boostbook's path handling is based on URIs which are probably too
heavy for quickbook. Xsltproc is given the url of the boostbook xsl
stylesheets which the boost build generated catalog maps to the actual
location of the files. This makes running boostbook without a build
system quite painful, I don't want that to be the case for quickbook.
