[parameter] Individually applying parameters.
by Rene Rivera 27 Jan '06

27 Jan '06

Before I go writing a bunch of code... Is there a way to apply the parameters of an ArgumentPack individually to a function? What I need/want is to be able, through Boost.MPL, to apply each argument in the ArgumentPack to a single function based of the keyword type. For example: struct A { template <typename Keyword, typename Value> void SetArgument( Value & v ); }; template <typename ArgPack> void setter( A & a, ArgPack & p ) { // for each arg in p: // a.SetArgument<arg::key_type>(arg.value) } Or equivalent thereof, without knowing ahead of time what the possible argument keywords and values are. I did some minor looking in the parameter code but didn't see anything obvious that already does this. -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com -- 102708583/icq - grafikrobot/aim - Grafik/jabber.org

Re: [boost] [regex]using boost::regex with STLport 5.0 on VS.net

However if this is >the case you should have got a #error from the autolinking code telling you >of the problem. YES, I have defined the __STL_DEBUG macro for the debug build. >2) You're build of Boost did not in fact get built against STLport. Try >taking a peek at the symbols defined in the libraries to see if they're >using _STL or _STLD names (from STLport) or std:: names (from VC++). Also >try building with bjam and the -d2 option so you can see the command lines >generated and verify that all the paths are in fact correct. GREAT! That really helps. Using a text editor, I cannot find _STL or _STLD names in a should-be STLport linked lib, but I can find "std"! Everything gets ok after I adding 2 lines into the build batch file: SET INCLUDE="D:\STLport_50\stlport";%INCLUDE% SET LIB="D:\STLport_50\lib";%LIB% Thank you so much! > >John. > > >_______________________________________________ >Unsubscribe & other changes: http://lists.boost.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/boost

[ANN] xsd - open source XML Schema to C++ translator
by Boris Kolpackov 26 Jan '06

26 Jan '06

Good day, I would like to announce the availability of xsd, a cross-platform, open source W3C XML Schema to C++ translator. Provided with an XML instance description (XML Schema), it generates C++ classes that represent the given vocabulary as well as parsing and serialization code: http://codesynthesis.com/products/xsd/ Compared to APIs such as DOM and SAX, the generated code allows you to access the information in XML instance documents using your domain vocabulary instead of generic elements, attributes, and text. Static typing helps catch errors at compile-time rather than at run-time. Automatic code generation frees you for more interesting tasks and minimizes the effort needed to adopt to changes in the document structure. xsd supports two C++ mappings: in-memory C++/Tree and event-driven C++/Parser. The C++/Tree mapping consists of C++ classes that represent data types defined in XML Schema, a set of parsing functions that convert XML instance documents to a tree-like in-memory data structure, and a set of serialization functions that convert the in-memory representation back to XML. For an introduction to the C++/Tree mapping refer to the C++/Tree Mapping Quick Guide: http://codesynthesis.com/projects/xsd/documentation/cxx/tree/quick-guide/ The C++/Parser mapping provides parser templates for data types defined in XML Schema. Using these parser templates you can build your own in-memory representations or perform immediate processing of XML instance documents. For an introduction to the C++/Parser mapping refer to the C++/Parser Mapping Quick Guide: http://codesynthesis.com/projects/xsd/documentation/cxx/parser/quick-guide/ xsd runs on a range of platforms, including GNU/Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, Solaris, and HP-UX. Supported C++ compilers include GNU g++, Intel C++, Sun C++, HP aCC, and Microsoft Visual C++. The translator is built using filesystem and regex libraries from boost. -boris

[octonion] Borland patch
by AlisdairM 26 Jan '06

26 Jan '06

The following patch has beeen tested with the new Borland compiler only, but looks like it should appy for earlier versions too: cvs diff -wb -- boost\math\octonion.hpp (in directory E:\sourceforge\devel\boost\) Index: boost/math/octonion.hpp =================================================================== RCS file: /cvsroot/boost/boost/boost/math/octonion.hpp,v retrieving revision 1.14 diff -w -b -r1.14 octonion.hpp 47c47 < return(octonion(static_cast<type>(0),b,c,d,e,f,g,h)); \ --- > return( octonion<type>(static_cast<type>(0),b,c,d,e,f,g,h)); \ Note that for once the patch is NOT supplied with a BOOST_WORKAROUND, as it is part of a large macro already, and we can't sneak #if statements into a macro ;¬) -- AlisdairM

[BOOST][asio] Compilation problem w/ Serialization example
by Marc Viala 26 Jan '06

26 Jan '06

Hi, We are just trying to use Asio (ver 0.3.6) w/ BOOST 1.33.1 and we have some troubles during the compilation of the serialization example, more precisely the file "connection.hpp" @ line 79 : "boost::bind can't deduced arguments..." I've tried to replace with boost::lambda::bind but without success... Is there any patch of this example with our C++ platform? Compilation platform: PC Windows XP Visual C++ 7.1.3088 BOOST 1.33.1 Thanks in advance, Marc Viala mailto:mviala@acticm.com <mailto:mviala@acticm.com>

[filesystem] new filesystsem library broken for Borland
by AlisdairM 26 Jan '06

26 Jan '06

The latest CVS version of the filesystem library is broken for the Borland compiler. It needs the same workaround already applied for MSVC and earlier: cvs diff -- boost\filesystem\path.hpp (in directory E:\sourceforge\devel\boost\) Index: boost/filesystem/path.hpp =================================================================== RCS file: /cvsroot/boost/boost/boost/filesystem/path.hpp,v retrieving revision 1.17 diff -r1.17 path.hpp 590c590,591 < # if !defined( BOOST_MSVC ) || BOOST_MSVC > 1300 // bypass VC++ 7.0 and earlier --- > // bypass VC++ 7.0 and earlier, and broken Borland compilers > # if !BOOST_WORKAROUND( BOOST_MSVC, <= 1300 ) && !BOOST_WORKAROUND( __BORLANDC__, BOOST_TESTED_AT(0x581) ) Note that the patch has been tested with the new compiler, as well as BCB6 in the online regression testing. I plan a more complete set of BCB2006 patches later this week, but will try to get BCB6 tests passing again first. There is a second problem in convenience.hpp, where system_message cannot be seen in the surrounding namespace. A quick and dirty fix would be: cvs diff -- boost\filesystem\convenience.hpp (in directory E:\sourceforge\devel\boost\) Index: boost/filesystem/convenience.hpp =================================================================== RCS file: /cvsroot/boost/boost/boost/filesystem/convenience.hpp,v retrieving revision 1.9 diff -r1.9 convenience.hpp 237a238,240 > # if BOOST_WORKAROUND( __BORLANDC__, BOOST_TESTED_AT(0x581)) > using boost::BOOST_FILESYSTEM_NAMESPACE::system_message; > #endif -- AlisdairM
